Emergency Management
The Clarke County Emergency Management Agency is a multi-functional agency whose primary duty is to prepare, respond and recover from several types of natural, man-made and technological disasters that may occur in Clarke County. Finance Department
This department manages and controls all financial functions of all county departments and the courts in accordance with generally accepted principles of government accounting and various Mississippi statutes and Administrative Codes.
The Finance Department is comprised of three main areas:
- General Accounting
- Accounts Payable
- Payroll
Duties of the Finance Department include:
- controlling expenditures and obligations (including operating expenses, debt, payroll)
- receipting and depositing all revenues
- managing the investment of all monies
- accounting for all assets and capital project expenditures
- internal and external reporting
The financial activity of all county departments is supervised by the Finance Officer to ascertain solid internal controls are in place.
Fire Department
Fire services for Clarke County are provided by a proud team of dedicated volunteers for areas not included in a municipality. Our mission is to deliver emergency services to the county and protect its well-being through preparedness, prevention, and education.

Purchasing Department
The Clarke County Purchasing office has sole responsibility for purchasing all equipment, heavy equipment, machinery, supplies, commodities, materials, and services used by any office or department of the County except for those offices or departments whose expenditures are not required by law to be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
Road Department
The Clarke County Road Department is responsible for maintenance, up-keep and improvements to all county roads and bridges. Responsibilities include:
- Drainage (culverts, ditching, curb & guttering)
- Bridges
- Road Surface (paving & potholes)
- Mowing (right-of-ways)
- Signage
- Trees (on right of ways)
- Guardrail maintenance
Solid Waste Department
The Clarke County Solid Waste Department oversees residential and commercial trash collection and disposal for areas outside of municipalities.

The Clarke County Rubbish Landfill is open Monday – Friday from 6:30 am – 3 pm and on Saturday from 8 am – 12 pm. It is located at CR 680 off Hwy 45 South in Quitman. For more information, call 601-776-5466.
